Tech in the eyes of non-programmers

My personal experiences in programming

There are two extremes for individuals who don’t understand how technology works. To the first group, tech is this magical black box of stuff that just works. And you know what? I love these people. Sure, they’re the type to come to you with their idea for a magical AI powered SaaS calander health management app (Real story for another time), but at least they know that they can’t do it themself and somewhat appreciate the effort you need to put in to make it a reality.

But the other group? They’re the ones who simultaneously think tech is simple and easy yet they can’t be bothered to do it themselves. They’re the client who requests new features a week before the project launch date, the project manager who genuinely thinks their weekly standup calls discussing the project progress (aka reading the to do list they can already see the progress of) is somehow contributing more to the project than the actual developers themselves.
